The Chamber Health Council is proud to share our first
2007 Wellness Resource Directory with you! The directory contains businesses in the following categories; Fitness, Holistic, Nutrition, Recreation and Additional Resources. This is the only resource
we are aware of in Northwest Connecticut that specifically
addresses wellness from a holistic perspective! We thank the Universal Health Care Foundation of Connecticut for providing the grant to make this publication possible.
The newly established Chamber Health Council was formed to address the raising costs of healthcare. Our mission is to educate and inform the community of ways to improve healthcare through a pro-active approach that enhances our quality of life.
The purpose of the Health Council is to act as a resource and conduit for innovative ideas and solutions; create and implement healthy programs and activities; provide a forum for Chamber members and the community to share ideas and best practices; and to work with public officials to implement changes in legislation.
A variety of tropics are discussed during quarterly meetings. Our focus is on promoting health awarness while sharing information aimed to reduce healthcare costs thus increasing profitability for Chamber businesses. Subjects previously addressed include: "Improve Productivity: The Impact of Mental Health in the Workplace", "Get A Healthy Start: Making Nutrition Work for You", "Taking the Mystery Out of Health Savings Accounts", "Consumer Driven HealthCare: How to Cope with Raising Costs", and "Creating a Healthy Culture: The Keys to Success".
