Junior Leadership Northwest

Junior Leadership Northwest, developed for local high school juniors and seniors, is an eight-month program designed to give them an inside look at how local governments, banks, law enforcement agencies and other regional entities operate. Junior Leadership Northwest also builds awareness of local history and available resources that may interest those students who hope to become future community leaders.

The program is an initiative of the Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Torrington Savings Bank.

Classes meet September through May on the fourth Monday of the month, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at different municipal and commercial organizations around the region. Students are responsible for their own transportation. Juniors and seniors attending high school in Litchfield County with a minimum grade average of 80 and no failures are eligible to apply. Class size is limited to 20 participants, and students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Tuition is $75, payable upon acceptance into the program.
