Junior Achievment

Junior Achievement (JA) is a program that teaches children in Kindergarten through Grade 12 about business, economics, personal finance and the world of work, stressing such topics as the importance of staying in school, getting a good job, being a smart consumer and investing money wisely. Each grade level has a specialized curriculum, which is taught by two volunteer business professionals per classroom over a single three-hour period—that’s where you come in. JA will train you and provide you with all the materials you need to provide a meaningful and worthwhile lesson to students. The Chamber recruits volunteers to spend a morning in one of the local elementary schools and provides training for the volunteers.  For more information on Junior Achievement, please contact Tricia Poirier, the Chamber’s Program Coordinator at 860-482-6586 or e-mail tricia@nwctchamberofcommerce.org.
