Job Description for Machine Operator                              Reports to: West Wing Supervisor

Summary:  Responsible for performing inspection of parts in a safe and efficient manner by performing the following duties:

Duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  1. Operates production equipment to produce products in accordance with production needs
  2. Produces assigned products in accordance with verbal and written instructions
  3. Read and understand drawings
  4. Completes equipment set-up’s, if applicable, in accordance with customer specifications and quality procedures
  5. Notifies management of product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions and/or personal injuries.
  6. Maintains work areas in a safe and orderly manner, to include returning tools to designated areas.
  7. Records production data as required.
  8. Adheres to established policies and procedures, paying special attention to safety regulations.
  9. Inspects parts and documents findings on appropriate paperwork as needed.
  10. Suggests new ideas for working more efficiently.
  11. Performs necessary maintenance of equipment as needed.
  12. Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
  13. Properly maintains tooling, machines, and measuring devices.
  14. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills

Oral communication skills: must speak English and understand English

Writing/reading communications skills: must be able to read and write English

Math aptitude: must know fractions and decimals

Measuring device aptitude: must be able to use a micrometer/calipers/scale

Helpful skill: STI, Keyence, optical comparator

Computer use: helpful, but not necessary at this time

Organization: must be able to keep the work areas orderly and safe

Time management: should be able to prioritize time and work efficiently

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly, and more occasionally; reaching overhead, bending down, sitting down all day, standing all day, repeated hand/arm use.

Must be able to see different colors to tell different materials apart. We also color code things so must be able to distinguish colors.  Must keep up with vision testing and updated prescription eyewear if needed.

Must be able to read and understand drawings.

Education/experience:

High School diploma or equivalent.  Prior machine experience preferred.
