Job Description for Machine Setup Technician                            Reports to: Manufacturing Manager

Summary:  Responsible for performing manufacture of parts in a safe and efficient manner by performing the following duties:

Duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  1. Setup and operate production equipment to produce products in accordance with production needs
  2. Produce assigned products in accordance with verbal and written instructions
  3. Read and understand drawings
  4. Complete equipment set-up’s, if applicable, in accordance with customer specifications and quality procedures
  5. Notify management of product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions and/or personal injuries.
  6. Maintain work areas in a safe and orderly manner, to include returning tools to designated areas.
  7. Record production data as required.
  8. Adhere to established policies and procedures, paying special attention to safety regulations.
  9. Inspect parts and documents findings on appropriate paperwork as needed.
  10. Suggest new ideas for working more efficiently.
  11. Perform necessary maintenance of equipment as needed.
  12. Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
  13. Properly maintain tooling, machines, and measuring devices.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills

Oral communication skills: must speak English and understand English

Writing/reading communications skills: must be able to read and write English

Math aptitude: must know fractions and decimals

Measuring device aptitude: must be able to use a micrometer/calipers/scale

Helpful skill: STI, Keyence, optical comparator

Computer use: helpful, but not necessary at this time

Organization: must be able to keep the work areas orderly and safe

Time management: should be able to prioritize time and work efficiently

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly, and more occasionally; reaching overhead, bending down, standing all day, repeated hand/arm use.

Must be able to see different colors to tell different materials apart. We also color code things so must be able to distinguish colors.  Must keep up with vision testing and updated prescription eyewear if needed.

Must be able to read and understand drawings.

Education/experience:

High School diploma or equivalent.  Prior machine experience preferred.
