Local Eagle Scout Raising Money for Torrington Dog Park Pavilion
My name is Jacob Cattey, I am an Eagle Scout candidate with Troop 3 in Torrington. To become an Eagle Scout, I need to complete an Eagle Scout project. The project requires me to complete something that will benefit the community for years to come. My project is to build a pavilion at the Torrington Dog Park.
As you know people’s way of lives changed in 2020 due to covid-19. The dog park opened in August of 2020 and quickly became a popular place for dog owners. The dog park lets the dogs run and play with other dogs in a safe space. It allows the owners to enjoy time outside with other people and still be able to social distance. My own dog met several dogs there that he plays with on a regular basis. In summer months, it can get quite hot and there is minimal shade. The pavilion will bring the much-needed shade for the owners to shelter away from the sun and protect against rain too. There are times when the dogs are at play and do not want to leave even in the rain.
I am in the process of raising funds for my project, approximately $4000 is needed. Covid-19 had an impact on how I can raise funds. Many traditional fund-raising activities cannot happen due to social distancing rules. I am kindly asking for your corporation to consider donating to my project. The project will improve an already popular community space. All companies that donate to my project will be displayed on a Thank You sign outside of the dog park when the project is complete.
