School to Career Pathways is a collaboration between area businesses and educators. The group was formed in response to the growing concern about a lack of workers entering technical industries and the national disconnect between the business and education sectors when it comes to preparing workers for the future. A group of Dymax Corporation employees developed and tested a pilot experimental program designed to give students a better idea about jobs and careers in the technology sector. School to Career Pathways was launched based on the success of that pilot program.
The goal of this initiative is to create opportunities that connect students with local companies so that they can have hands-on experimental learning experiences as they explore career paths. The program educates students and community members about the products and services offered at companies throughout the region; demonstrates the wide variety of careers available; and provides positive public relations opportunities for participating companies.
