Legislative Programs

The Chamber’s Government Relations Committee, one of our most active committees, presents several Legislative programs throughout the year, including, but are not limited to, a Candidate’s Forum, a Legislative Reception, and Connecticut Business Day.

The Candidate’s Forum convenes in October on years when State House and Senate elections are held. The candidates discuss various business issues, and audience members are invited to quiz them during a question and answer period.

The Legislative Reception is an annual event that recognizes our State Representatives and Senators for their work during the Legislative Session. Legislators are given the opportunity to speak to the audience, followed by a question and answer period. Networking opportunities with the Legislators prior to and after the formal program are also available.

At the Connecticut Business & Industry Association’s annual Connecticut Business Day, our Chamber has historically had the most representatives of all the chambers in attendance. Typically held in March at the State Capitol, Connecticut Business Day offers Chamber members the opportunity to meet with State elected officials and attend the Governor’s State of the State Address.

The Government Relations Committee makes a bill-tracking resource available to Chamber members. The Chamber also has a website where members can learn about bills affecting the Northwest corner of Connecticut and the business community at large.
