O&G Industries, Inc., an innovative and diversified construction company based out of Torrington, CT seeks a Cost Control Manager to join our team. We are a highly respected leader in our field and ranked as one of the top construction firms in the Northeast.

 

The Cost Control Manager plays a pivotal role in optimizing financial performance across our construction, building materials, and equipment divisions. This position ensures rigorous cost control, accurate financial forecasting, and standardized billing practices that empower our operations teams to make data-driven decisions.

 

The Cost Control Manager reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis
    • Collaborate with operations teams to prepare unit cost budgets and forecasts
    • Analyze performance variances and meet regularly with teams to ensure accuracy of actual cost data and projections
    • Update and maintain equipment and material cost rates used for internal allocations
    • Monitor unit costs and investigate significant variances
  • Reporting & Forecasting
    • Prepare periodic cost reports and ad hoc financial analyses
    • Support monthly percent-complete calculations, journal entries, and documentation
    • Provide financial updates to the Finance team on operational forecasts, ensuring alignment with budgets and projections
  • Billing & Construction Support
    • Oversee and standardize construction billing functions
    • Assist the billing department to ensure accurate and timely invoicing
  • Operational Oversight
    • Ensure systems and procedures are in place at operational sites for accurate data collection
    • Monitor project execution and compare actuals to budget for strategic insights
    • Partner with operations teams to support financial decision-making across all active projects
  • Manage Construction Billing Department
    • Manage, review and provide oversight for construction billing department
    • Strong leadership and communication skills, with ability to lead, build trust, and communicate ideas clearly across the company

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Proven experience in cost accounting and construction finance
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite and relational databases
  • Experience using financial reporting tools
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
