O&G Industries, Inc., an innovative and diversified construction company based out of Torrington, CT, is seeking an Insurance Manager to join our team in Torrington. We are a highly respected leader in our field and ranked as one of the top construction firms in the Northeast.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the corporate insurance program including but not limited to workers’ compensation, employers’ liability, general liability, automobile liability, umbrella and excess liability, professional liability, pollution liability, cyber liability, marine liability, fiduciary liability, property insurance, etc.
- Gather and submit estimated exposure annually to the insurance broker for placement of insurance policies
- Collaborate with the broker on placement, pricing, structure, and limits necessary for the corporate program
- Evaluate adequacy and necessity of lines of insurance (deductibles, limits, etc.)
- Review insurance policies for accuracy and to ensure coverage is as expected
- Manage certificate of insurance requests
- Identify project specific requirements in bid specifications and work collaboratively with estimators and our broker to secure pricing on project specific placements
- Assist with drafting and editing insurance, indemnity, and limit of liability of various agreements throughout the organization to ensure optimal contractual risk transfer
- Manage the corporate surety program
- Develop internal insurance burden rates for bidding purposes using payroll, premium, loss costs, and other cost inputs
- Provide renewal and exposure information to actuaries for the development of cost-plus insurance rates
- Allocate insurance costs to affiliated entities, subsidiaries, and business units in accordance with their pro rata shares
- Work with the broker and safety to coordinate site visits with insurers
- Work with insurance companies to provide actual exposure information for annual audits
- Collaborate with claims management to ensure accurate/timely reporting of claims and accurate claims database management
- Stay up to date on insurance changes and trends
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, risk management, or related field
- 5 years of experience in an insurance related position
- In depth understanding of various insurance products, services and regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with insurance software and tools, as well as proficiency using Microsoft Office
- Aptitude for identifying issues and developing effective solutions
